Insulated Garden Rooms Installed for Year-Round Use
A well-built, insulated garden room gives you more than occasional summer space. With the right kit, base, electrics and professional installation, it can become a comfortable, practical room you can use throughout the year for work, fitness, hobbies or everyday relaxation.
TessCon supplies and installs insulated garden room kits across Birmingham and the Midlands, helping homeowners create durable, low-maintenance outdoor rooms that feel like a natural extension of the home.
Comfortable in More Seasons
Insulated garden rooms are designed to offer better year-round comfort than a basic shed, cabin or traditional summer house. The insulated panels help reduce heat loss in colder months and make the room easier to keep comfortable during warmer weather.
This makes them ideal if you want a space that can be used regularly, not just when the weather is right.
Fully Insulated Garden Offices
A fully insulated garden office gives you a dedicated workspace away from the noise and distractions of the main house. Whether you work remotely full-time or need a quiet place for occasional admin, an insulated garden office can give you the privacy and separation you need.
TessCon can supply and install your garden office kit, including the base, structure, doors, windows, lighting, sockets, heating and internal finishes.
Garden Rooms with Electricity
If you want to use your garden room as a proper year-round space, electricity is usually essential. TessCon can install or arrange the electrical elements needed to make the room practical, safe and comfortable.
This can include sockets, lighting, heating, external lighting and power for office equipment, gym equipment or studio use.
Suitable for Work, Fitness and Relaxation
Insulated garden rooms are highly flexible. They can be used as a single-purpose space or designed around several everyday needs, depending on the size of the kit and your garden layout.
A small insulated garden room may be perfect for a home office or hobby space, while a larger garden room can support multiple zones, such as a desk area, sofa, gym equipment or storage.
Insulated Garden Buildings Built Around Your Home
Every property is different, so the right insulated garden building depends on your available space, access, ground conditions and how you want to use the room.
TessCon can help you choose a suitable garden room kit or source materials for your project, then install the structure professionally so it is level, secure, weather-resistant and finished to a high standard.
Installed with the Right Base, Services and Finish
The performance of an insulated garden room depends on more than the kit itself. A poor base, rushed installation or unfinished interior can affect comfort, durability and long-term use.
TessCon provides a full installation service across Birmingham and the Midlands, including ground preparation, base advice, kit assembly, electrics, heating, flooring and finishing. This means your garden room is installed properly from the ground up.

FAQs About Garden Room Installations in Birmingham
Do you supply the garden room kit or only install it?
TessCon can help with both supply and installation. We can source suitable insulated garden room kit materials for your project, or we can install a flat pack garden room kit you have already chosen.
Our service can include the full installation process, from ground preparation and base advice through to kit assembly, doors, windows, roofing, electrics, heating, flooring and finishing.
Can TessCon install a flat pack garden room kit I have already bought?
Yes. If you have already purchased a flat pack garden room kit, TessCon can install it for you.
We will review the kit details, check the installation requirements and assess your garden space before providing a quote. This helps us understand what is needed, including the base, access, assembly, weatherproofing, electrics and any finishing work.
Can you source the materials for an insulated garden room?
Yes. TessCon can source suitable materials for insulated garden rooms, garden offices, studios, gyms and multi-use outdoor rooms.
We can help you choose an appropriate size and specification based on your garden, intended use and budget, then provide a quote for supply and installation.
How much does garden room kit installation cost?
The cost of garden room kit installation depends on the size of the kit, site access, ground conditions, base requirements, electrical work, heating, flooring and the level of internal finish you need.
Guide kit prices are useful for understanding the cost of the garden room itself, but installation is priced separately because every property is different. TessCon can provide a clear quote after reviewing your chosen kit, site and requirements.
Do I need a base for a garden room?
Yes. A garden room needs a suitable, level and stable base to support the structure properly.
The right base depends on the size of the garden room, ground conditions, drainage, access and manufacturer requirements. TessCon can advise on the most suitable base for your project and carry out the preparation work where required.
Can you install electrics in a garden room?
Yes. TessCon can include electrical work as part of your garden room installation.
This can include lighting, sockets, heating options, external lights and power for office equipment, gym equipment or general use. Electrical requirements will be discussed during the quotation stage so the space is practical for how you plan to use it.
Can a garden room be used all year round?
Do I need planning permission for a garden room?
Many garden rooms may fall under permitted development, but this is not guaranteed. Planning requirements can depend on the size, height, position, distance from boundaries, property type, location and how the room will be used.
If your garden room includes sleeping accommodation, a toilet, shower, business use or is particularly large, additional permissions or Building Regulations may apply. It is always best to check before work begins.
Can I use a garden room as a bedroom?
Using a garden room as sleeping accommodation can involve additional planning and Building Regulations requirements. A standard garden room, office or studio is not automatically suitable to be used as a bedroom.
If you are considering a garden room for overnight stays, guest accommodation or self-contained living space, you should check the rules carefully before proceeding. TessCon can help with the construction and installation elements once the correct requirements are understood.
Can you install garden offices, gyms and studios?
Yes. TessCon installs garden offices, garden gyms, garden studios and multi-use insulated garden rooms across Birmingham and the Midlands.
We can tailor the installation around how you want to use the space, including lighting, sockets, heating, flooring, storage, internal finishes and suitable base preparation.
How long does installation take?
Installation time depends on the size of the garden room, site access, base requirements, weather, electrics and the level of finishing required.
A smaller garden room kit may be quicker to install, while larger insulated garden rooms with groundworks, electrics, heating and internal finishing will take longer. TessCon can provide an estimated timescale when preparing your quote.
Do you cover Birmingham and the Midlands?
Yes. TessCon provides garden room kit supply and installation across Birmingham and the Midlands.

EXCELLENT Based on 14 reviews Posted on Game Ovais17 February 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I am happy with Tess Contractors and will use them again for sure. I contacted them a couple of weeks ago regarding my Garage Roof Leak and they responding promptly. - They were polite and professional. - Their pricing was fair - I did have other quotations so could compare. - They were punctual - the first time I've ever had tradespeople show up at the time they said they would. - They didn't try and sell me a new roof like other tradespeople. - I needed a repair and their repaired it for me. They did such a good job - I don't usually have positive experiences but glad I found them.Posted on Sarah McCaffrey9 December 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Tess Roofing (Rich and Team) have been working on our community building, completed a huge amount of work to stop leaks and weather proof the roof for the future. We are a very busy community centre with many vunerable users. Rich and has team were extremely considerate working around our schedules and supplying full details of the work for us to report back to the council. Highly recommend.Posted on Mick Fry2 December 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We engaged with Tess contractors (not for the first time) as we had water coming through our bedroom ceiling above the window. As we have solar panels on the rear roof these needed to be taken off before the investigation on what was required to fix the problem. Once some of the tiles had been removed it was apparent it was going to be a big job. Rich took loads of pictures so we were well informed about the state of the roof. We decided to get the whole roof replaced rather than save a little money but run the risk of further issues. We agreed on a price which was very reasonable and also agreed a schedule for the works to take place. Everyone who worked on the roof was polite and friendly especially Max worked on the roof everyday. The weather affected the schedule a little but that's not in our or the workers hands. When the job was completed everything was left clean and tidy.Posted on Stuart Mills25 September 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a great experience with Tess Contractors for the repairs on our industrial roof. They were extremely professional throughout. The team clearly explained the problems, combining overcladding and repair work, and documented everything with detailed photos. Their quote was clear, concise, and gave us various options, so we knew exactly what to expect. They showed up exactly when they said they would and kept us fully updated on the progress. After the work was completed, they provided photos and videos, which was a great way to see the finished job. We highly recommend them—they were very helpful and reliable.Posted on james stevens28 August 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent work from Richard and his team, everything went smoothly from start to finish. Best builder I have used thanks again 👍🏼Posted on Mike Strauss16 August 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Highly recommended, really knowledgeable, gave good advice, really happy with the work and all done on time. Bit of a perfectionist which is just what was needed.Posted on FREDERICK Plimmer16 July 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great service experienced workers excellent job on our canopy and garage roof very satisfied would recommend to allPosted on Wayne Carey14 February 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Tess were one of four companies who quoted us for roofing work. All were from verified agencies but still be careful. Three we'd contact again, the other definitely not. The whole experience went incredibly smoothly from the scaffolding arriving on the first Monday; work starting an the Tuesday and finishing on the Friday and the the scaffolding removed on the second Monday morning. Communication was excellent throughout. Richard did the organisational side and Peter (and his mate) did the roofing. As it's a large roof, nearly 120 years old, we'd anticipated there would be additional work needed. We agreed a mutually acceptable price. The weather was kind and Peter didn't hang about as he scampered here, there and everywhere! At the end of each day they tidied up and all waste was removed on the last day. Peter took numerous photos before, during and after the job and invited me up the scaffolding to see the work as it progressed so we were as well informed as we could be. They were very professional as well as being accommodating at all times. We'd definitely recommend people to get them to quote you for any roofing work you need doing.Posted on Tony Waddy17 September 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Having posted my Dads flat roof replacement on rated people, Rich was quick to submit an indicative quote and follow up with a site visit. The communication from Rich and the team was excellent and they completed the job efficiently and in a timely manner. The new flat roof is a significant improvement to the old one and the work was carried out to a high standard. ThankyouPosted on Steve Kukla4 September 2024Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very satisfied with an excellent professional job. The work was completed in an organised and timely manner. The final result was great.
